Press: Word Up!

Introduction:
The life of a Christ-follower is not about avoiding difficulty or problems, but learning to successfully walk through them and WIN.  In this lesson, we will discuss how to use God’s Word to fight the battles we face in life.

Questions:

  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17 out loud in your group. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.  God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Have you ever personally experienced this when reading your Bible?  If so, share a specific time that this happened to you.

  2. Can you think a time in your life where you knew God’s Word about something you were facing, but didn’t apply it?  What happened as a result?
  3. What kinds of things do you think keep people from applying the Word in their lives?
  4. Of the three areas of our lives that we focused on applying the Word to in the message (our mind, mouth, and money), which one do you tend to struggle with the most?

Think about it:
When we agree with and act on God’s Word, it will build us up, lift us up and ultimately set us up for winning our race.

What will you do?
What area of your life will you apply God’s Word to this week?  Encourage everyone in your group to choose a specific Scripture to apply to that area.
