For the next 21 days, we invite you to join us as we unite together to pray as a ONE⁎ Church family across all campuses. Often, prayer is a last resort instead of a first response, so let’s come together and seek God first and pray for Him to move in our lives, in our loved ones, and in our church, our community, and our country. Also, please feel free to invite your friends and family to join along with us as we pray through our 21 Days.
We have written out a specific focus, scripture and prayer for each day to make it easy for you to follow along. We will be specifically focusing our scripture references from the Gospel of John. John wrote his Gospel to inspire faith. As one of the twelve disciples and a beloved friend who was an eye witness to Jesus, he records for us Jesus’ most memorable sayings, his longest sermons, and his most profound miracles. John conveys throughout his Gospel that Jesus’ purpose in revealing God is to redeem people.
As we seek God and pray, let’s believe for God to do amazing and miraculous things for us, in us, and through us. He is a faithful God who redeems His people, and He can do much, much more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). When you go to pray over the next 21 days, we hope you will remember this amazing verse written by the Apostle John in 1 John 5:14-15: "And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for."
Day 1
Focus – Christ—the Eternal Word
Scripture – John 1:1-5
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
Prayer
Father, thank You for Your Eternal Word, Jesus Christ, who gives life to everything that was created and brings light to us all. Your light overpowers the darkness in this world and in my life. No matter how much darkness and evil that tries to overpower the light found in Jesus Christ, it will never be able to put out this light. Lord, help me to walk in the light of Jesus Christ every day, and through the power of the Word of God, help me to overcome the darkness that surrounds me. During the 21 Days of Prayer, help me to draw closer to You and allow Your life and Your light to shine bright in my life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 2
Focus – Jesus—Full of Unfailing Love and Faithfulness
Scripture – John 1:12-13
But to all who believed him and accepted him [Christ Jesus], he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness to me. No matter what I face today, I have hope because I know that You love me. You sent Your Son into this world so that I could have an eternal relationship with You. I put my trust in You—and in the power of Your Word, Christ Jesus, whom you have sent. Lord, fill me with Your peace and joy today and remind me of Your love and faithfulness to me by Your Spirit throughout my day. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 3
Focus – Jesus—the Lamb of God
Scripture – John 1:29-30, 33-34
The next day John (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’
I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God."
Prayer
Father, thank You for sending Jesus, the Lamb of God, to take away the penalty of my sin and the sins of those who would ever believe in you. Because of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, the sin that once separated me from you, no longer has power over me. Through faith, Jesus has baptized me with the Holy Spirit who lives in me, and He empowers me to live my life for Jesus and fulfill God’s plan for my life. Thank You, Jesus, for the power of the Holy Spirit who guides my life today and every day. In Your Name I pray, Amen.
Day 4
Focus – God Loves You
Scripture – John 3:16-17 (NIV)
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
Prayer
Lord, thank You for sending Jesus into this world so that I could have eternal life through Him, and not just me, but all who will ever believe in You. You did not send Jesus to condemn me or anyone else, but to save us. I pray right now for my family and friends and those in my circle who have not yet put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, to do so. Help me make the most of the opportunities you bring into my life by sharing my faith with them. Give me the boldness and the courage I need to reveal Your light and Your love to those around me and invite them to meet Jesus. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 5
Focus – God is Looking for True Worshippers
Scripture – John 4:23-26
"But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth." The (Samaritan) woman said, "I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us." Then Jesus told her, "I am the Messiah!"
Prayer
Father, I’m so thankful that we can worship You in spirit and in truth because the Spirit of God has revealed the Truth of God found in Jesus Christ. We can now come boldly to Your throne of grace and worship You because of what Jesus has done for us. You are looking for those who will worship You this way. So let my worship for You be revealed in every aspect of my life, not just through an act of praise or when only the music plays, but with all of my heart throughout the day. When I open up my mouth, let Your praise be revealed through me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 6
Focus – Jesus—the Healer
Scripture – John 5:2-9
Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda, with five covered porches. Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches. One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, "Would you like to get well?" "I can’t, sir," the sick man said, "for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me." Jesus told him, "Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!" Instantly, the man was healed!"
Prayer
Father, You sent Your Word to heal us and set us free from sickness and disease. Thank You for Your healing power to heal me and those who are sick. I lift up my friends and loved ones who are dealing with sickness right now to You and pray for Your healing power to touch them and heal them. Thank You for doctors and nurses and medical personnel who strive to help people get well. Lord, protect them and use them in amazing ways. Reveal your plan of treatment to the doctors, help them see what You see and know what You know and stretch out Your healing hands to heal my loved ones in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
Day 7
Focus – Let Jesus in Your Boat
Scripture – John 6:18-21
Soon a gale swept down upon them (Jesus’ disciples), and the sea grew very rough. They had rowed three or four miles when suddenly they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat. They were terrified, but he called out to them, "Don’t be afraid. I am here!" Then they were eager to let him in the boat, and immediately they arrived at their destination!
Prayer
Lord, when the storms of life rage all around me, help me to not be afraid or be moved by what I see. This scripture vividly reminds me that You are with me, and You see what I am going through. I know you are faithful, and You will help me navigate through the storms. Holy Spirit, remind me of this truth whenever I am afraid. Nothing can ever separate me from Christ’s love because overwhelming victory is mine through Christ who loved me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 8
Focus – Jesus — the Good Shepherd
Scripture – John 10:9-11
"Yes, I (Jesus) am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep."
Prayer
Jesus, You know how to take good care of Your sheep, and You take good care of me. You protect me, provide for me, care for me, love me, and You guide and rescue me when I can’t find my way. There is an enemy who wants to steal, kill and destroy my life, but he can’t get to me because of You. Jesus, You came to give me abundant life, a rich and satisfying life, found only in You. My life is not my own—it belongs to You—so use it for Your glory and Your purpose. Help me listen for Your voice and follow after You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 9
Focus – Jesus—the Resurrection and the Life
Scripture – John 11:25-26a
(Jesus) "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never die."
Prayer
Jesus, You are the resurrection and the life. There is nothing impossible for You! Just as you did for Lazarus, You have the power to bring dead things to life, whether it’s a marriage, a relationship, a career, or one’s purpose, you have the power to give it new life again! I put my trust in You to breathe new life into me and give me the faith to trust You to bring Your plans and purposes to pass in my life today and every day. You are not done with me yet, and Your Word says that You are faithful to complete the good work You started in me, so I am believing for You to do new and amazing things in me and through me this year in Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 10
Focus – Jesus’ Disciples Follow Him
Scripture – John 12:23-26
(Jesus) "Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me."
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for giving Your life so that I could be free. Help me to love You more than anyone or anything in this world and follow You with my whole heart and life. Help me to do this by Your Spirit and through the power of Your Word. When I know Your Word, I can understand who You are more clearly and Your plan for my life. Though Satan wants to sift my life as wheat, protect me and guard from the evil one as I follow after You. Help me to overcome the temptations the devil brings to destroy my life, for greater is He who is in me, than he who is in the world. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 11
Focus – Disciples Love Each Other
Scripture – John 13:34-35
"So now, I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."
Prayer
Father, as You have loved me, help me to love others. I need Your help to do this and can only do this by Your Spirit. So guide me and strengthen me to love not hate and to forgive not retaliate. With the same grace and mercy that You have shown me, help me to show to others. I love You, Jesus, Amen.
Day 12
Focus – Let not your Hearts be Troubled
Scripture – John 14:1-4
"Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me (Jesus). There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going."
Prayer
Father God, help me to trust in You no matter what I see or experience all around me. This world is my temporary home; my eternal home is with You. Help me to remember that my time here on earth is so short; in fact the bible compares it to morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. Lord, help me to live for You and help others find and follow You while I am here, and let not my heart be troubled but be filled with peace and joy. You are coming back again, and I can’t wait to see You! In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 13
Focus – Jesus—the Way, the Truth, and the Life
Scripture – John 14:6
"I (Jesus) am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."
Prayer
Father, thank You for sending Jesus to us. He is the way, the truth, and the life, and He is the only way to You. I am forever grateful for Your great love –You sent Your Son to die for me while I was still a sinner. My friendship with You was restored through the death of Your Son, and my life has been saved through his life. By Your Spirit, You have shown me the way, the truth, and the life found in Jesus. Thank you, Jesus, for giving Your life for me so that I could be free. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 14
Focus – Greater Works to be Done
Scripture – John 14:12-13
"I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father."
Prayer
Father God, thank You for the works that Jesus did and continues to do through us today. In Your name, we can experience miracles and answers to our prayers through the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for hearing our prayers and for answering our prayers according to Your Word through the power of the Spirit. I remind myself today that no matter what I face or I’m going through, there is nothing impossible for You! In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 15
Focus – Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
Scripture – John 14:15-17
"If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you."
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the power of Your Word my life! When I read Your Word, I better understand who You are and Your plan for my life. When I learn Your Word and hide it in my heart, I am reminded of how powerful You are in me. Who can stand against me, when You are on my side? Let Your Word guide me and transform me. Father, not my will be done, but Your will be done in me. As I read and study Your Word, open my eyes by Your Spirit to see new and wonderful truths I have never known before. Help me to walk in these truths and live my life to honor and bring glory to You by the power of Your Word in Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 16
Focus – Jesus—the True Vine
Scripture – John 15:1-5
"I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing."
Prayer
Father, thank You for the life-giving vine, Jesus Christ. Through Him, I have an eternal relationship with You. Holy Spirit, help me stay connected to Jesus so that I can impact the lives of those around me with the light and love of God – my family, my friends, my co-workers and beyond. Let Your fruit be seen in my life and always remind me, Holy Spirit, that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 17
Focus – The Spirit of Truth
Scripture – John 16:13-15
"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me."
Prayer
Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit. He reminds me of the Word of God and tells me of things to come. The Holy Spirit knows the will of God for my life, and when I rely on Him to show me, He will reveal Your will to me and show me where I may be missing it. I need You, Holy Spirit, to guide me and to fill me with Your presence and Your power every day because I know that I cannot accomplish God’s plan for my life on my own. Holy Spirit, speak to me and guide me in the truth of God’s Word today and every day. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 18
Focus – Ask the Father in Jesus Name
Scripture – John 16:22-24, 27
"So you have sorrow now, but I (Jesus) will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy. At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy…for the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God."
Prayer
Father, thank You for loving me dearly and giving me direct access to You through Your Son, Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus, and because of Him, I can come boldly to You in prayer. When I pray in Jesus’ name, You hear me, and You answer me according to Your Word. No other name is more powerful than the name of Jesus. At the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, in heaven and on earth, that Jesus is Lord! Thank You, Jesus, for everything You have done and continue to do for me. Your Word reminds me that no matter what I face in this life, overwhelming victory is mine through Christ Jesus who loved me and gave His life for me. In Jesus mighty Name, Amen.
Day 19
Focus – The Way to Eternal Life
Scripture – John 17:3
"And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth."
Prayer
Father, eternal life is found in knowing and experiencing You, the only true God, and receiving Jesus Christ, the One You sent. I pray for all of my unsaved family and loved ones, friends and co-workers right now to experience Your love and receive Jesus Christ into their hearts as their Lord and Savior this year. I bind the enemy who blinds the minds from believing in You and receiving Jesus in their hearts right now in the mighty name of Jesus. Send ministers and Christ-followers to them to share the Good News and the amazing grace of Jesus with them. Send me, Father, to those who need to hear how You have intervened in my life through the saving power of Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit, help me to be on alert and be ready to share my story of faith with those you bring across my path. Father, I am Your vessel, and I am ready and willing to be used by You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 20
Focus – Believing without Seeing
Scripture – John 20:26-29
"A week later the disciples were together again. This time, Thomas was with them. Jesus came in while the doors were still locked and stood in the middle of the group. He greeted his disciples and said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at my hands! Put your hand into my side. Stop doubting and have faith!” Thomas replied, “You are my Lord and my God!” Jesus said, “Thomas, do you have faith because you have seen? The people who have faith in me without seeing me are the ones who are really blessed!"
Prayer
Jesus said, “Blessed are those who have faith without seeing me!” So, thank You, Father, for giving me the faith to believe in Jesus without seeing Him. Thank You for blessing my life so abundantly through Jesus and for giving me the Holy Spirit to help me keep believing even when things are difficult, and I don’t see all the answers to my prayers. I know You love me, Father, and You are for me, and by faith I trust that You are working all things out for my good. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Day 21
Focus – Continue to Believe
Scripture – John 20:30-31
"The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name. "
Prayer
Father, thank You for the Gospel of John written through the power of the Holy Spirit and Your faithful disciple, John. By sending Jesus, You demonstrated Your great love to Your disciples and to all of us who would follow, that He is the Messiah sent to take away the sins of the world and give us eternal life through Jesus Christ. The miracles of Jesus are so numerous this book could not record all of them, for the bible says that “the whole world could not contain the books that would be written” about the marvelous works of Jesus Christ. Every day, help me to continue to believe in the works of Jesus Christ in my life and in those around me, and in the power of his wonderful name. In Jesus Name, Amen.
